Taking inspiration from the plentiful gorges in the area, and a play on the well known local play on words, “Ithaca is gorges”, we couldn’t resist the pull of a good pun for our store’s name: Gorges Fiber Arts. We look forward to meeting you and introducing you to our large selection of gorgeous fiber very soon.

Accessibility: Gorges Fiber Arts is located at street level and is fully wheelchair accessible, including an ADA compliant bathroom.

Anton Sarossy-Christon, Director

Passionate about the arts, my vision is to create a fully inclusive space where amateur and semi-professional artists can work on their projects, learn new artistic skills, and network with other like-minded people. My artistic passions are ceramics and fiber arts —I love making items I can use and wear in my daily life. I’m a life-long knitter thanks to my mother’s attempt to keep me occupied after the birth of my sister. After a bit of a knitting hiatus, I rediscovered knitting in 2005 and even moved to a farm where I raise heritage sheep (Shetland, Jacob, Gotland), and knit, spin, and weave items from their wool.

As a career high school English teacher, holding a Master of Education from OSU, I taught for almost 20 years in the Columbus City Schools district in Columbus, Ohio. I bring my skills developing engaging scaffolded curricula to Gorges Fiber and Cultural Arts Center, working with the instructors to develop fun, inclusive, and enriching classes! You’ll find me in the Store knitting, and the Weaving studio, located in the store, most Mondays and Tuesdays teaching our Weaving classes—hope to see you soon!
